Grand Prix of NOLA in New Orleans
New Orleans was the place for the 3rd and 4th Round of the Cooper Tires Lites Championship. Surprisingly, they have an IndyCar certified track south of the city and our weekend coincided with the Grand Prix of Louisiana. All I can say … what an eventful race week. Our qualifying was under wet conditions but the first race was dry. Hence, it was a little tricky doing the car set ups rights. A big pile up of cars and several spins made us finish under yellow. I found myself in 3rd place mainly by staying out of trouble and keeping it clean.
The second race was not short of any drama. It was probably the wettest race I have ever experienced. This was more boating than driving and even on the straights you’ve been sideways hydroplaning. It’s no surprise that we had many spins and some drivers crashed into the wall. Eventually the race organizers decided to red flag the race because conditions became dreadful. I did have a 360 spin but kept the car on the track and clean and had another podium finish with P3.
